Wednesday and Thursday, April 8 and 9, 2020
Somehow I neglected to send Wednesday's email yesterday like I said I would! So rather than send 2 today, I'm sending one big one with both Scripture readings. I had something happen yesterday that was somewhat new to me. Rae Lynn, our Assistant to the District Superintendent, called me yesterday afternoon. She said she has been calling a few pastors every day to check in to make sure they're okay. We had a nice chat, and then she asked if she could pray for me. Of course, I said yes, and she proceeded to pray. Now normally I would have then prayed for her (or any other person who had just prayed for me), because I'm a pastor and that's what we do. But something inside of me said, "Just take the blessing." In other words, just accept the fact that she wants to give you a blessing and don't worry about returning one to her. Honestly, that was a whole new thing for me. I think of myself as independent and strong, so to think someone would give me a blessing without me doing anything in return is a weird concept. And even though I spent a lot of time thinking about this last night, I honestly think this was something God wanted me to learn. So that was my day! How was yours? Back to Holy Week - I am recording (with Jim Haas' help) a Good Friday sermon today and will share the link when it is ready. I will be recording the Easter message too in a day or two, and will share that on Sunday morning. I hope to also be on Facebook Live Sunday morning, but I'm still working on what I want to do for that. In the meantime, stay safe, and keep praying. Here are Wednesday's and Thursday's Scriptures.
